University of Idaho Alumni Association Awards

The University of Idaho Awards program began in 1962, and serves as the Alumni Association mechanism to directly recognize and reward deserving alumni, volunteers and other individuals.  UI Alumni, faculty and staff are reminded of the August 1 deadline for submission of nomination materials to the Alumni Office.

The Alumni Association offers the following award programs to recognize and reward deserving students, alumni, volunteers and other individuals.  

Distinguished Idahoan  Recognizes a living person who has an international or national reputation and has brought distinction to the State of Idaho, the University of Idaho or rendered extraordinary service to one or both. This prestigious honor not presented annually. 2006 Recipients Malcolm and Carol Renfrew Hall of Fame Recognizes living alumni who have achieved national or international distinction by their accomplishments and leadership. 2008 Inductees Dr. Todd Kuiken '82 Otis Livingston '91 Dayaldas T. Meshri '68  To be honored May 8-10, 2008 Awards for Excellence Recognizes academic achievements of top senior, Law and graduate scholars chosen by a committee of faculty, staff and alumni. 2007 Recipients

Silver and Gold Recognizes living alumni who have a distinguished record of achievement and or service in their specialized area of endeavor, thus bringing honor and recognition to the university.  2008 Recipients Daniel Alsaker '72 Dennis Johnson '79 Wellington 'Skip' '53 and Bee Pierce Wayne Thiessen '62 Jim Lyle Recognizes living individual or couple who has shown long-term dedication and service to the university and/or Alumni Association through volunteerism.   2008 Recipients Dennis Faucher '60, '62 Brian Hill '65 Dr. Herald Nokes '50 Idaho Treasures Recognizes retired University of Idaho faculty, staff and/or family members who, in their retirement, have made significant contributions to the university. 2008 Recipients John and Winifred Dixon (to be honored on Thursday, November 9, 2008)

"Additional Recognitions and Rewards"

Honorary Alumni Recognition:
The recognition of "University of Idaho honorary alumni" is a reward bestowed by the University of Idaho Alumni Association from the national Board of Directors to a very limited number of persons that have served the University of Idaho, and the university's alumni with "great distinction".  This honor is to recognize "outstanding leadership and service", and is a formal "thank you" to identify those special persons that are critical to the success of our alma mater. 

Alumni Association Service Recognition:
This Service Recognition honors an individual or group that has given extraordinary service and/or significant dedication to the University of Idaho or to the Alumni Association.  This recognition is presented on rare occasions and is designed as a formal "thank-you" for a significant action, or unique and noteworthy continued service to the university or alumni association. Nominations are submitted to and reviewed by Executive Directors of Alumni Relations.
