This award was created in 1991 and recognizes the outstanding contributions of any living individual or couple who has shown long-term dedication and service to the university and/or the alumni association through volunteerism. The award is named in honor of Jim Lyle, who served with great distinction as UI Alumni Secretary (director) from 1946-1969. Nominations may not be submitted for persons currently holding or running for an elected political office. Consideration will be given for long-term dedication to: service to the UI, which could include colleges, departments, alumni groups, student organizations or campus service groups; and service to the UI Alumni Association, which could include constituent group, specific events, major project or local chapter level service.
