About the University of Idaho Alumni Association
History The University of Idaho Alumni Association (UIAA) was formed on April 7, 1898. The Alumni Office was established in 1946 to keep track of alumni and provide them with information about the university and their classmates. The association has the tradition of being the strongest public relations office for the university and represents over 90,000 alumni.
An appointed and elected board of directors governs the UIAA. They meet formally three times a year. The members of the board of directors are measured by the commitment they make as volunteers during the three-year term and by the success of meeting the objectives of the strategic plan.
Governance The board of directors maintains the bylaws of the UIAA and oversees the development and implementation of the long range plan. The UIAA relies on committees to provide direction and obtain results to our challenges.
Relationship with Alumni Once a University of Idaho student reaches 90 credits or a graduate degree, he or she is considered a part of the alumni community. This not-for-profit organization is not a dues-paying group, you are included automatically and encouraged to participate with your alma mater! At this point, the alumnus/alumnae will begin receiving the University of Idaho magazine- Here We Have Idaho, as well as news and updates from their respective college and invitations to various alumni events. Alumni are also urged to become involved in supporting the University of Idaho through numerous Alumni Association events, programs and services.
